Marine renewables specialist joins Invest in Cornwall

Regional development agency Invest in Cornwall has announced the appointment of Amanda Pound to the position of Marine Renewables Business Development Specialist.

Amanda will be instrumental in attracting non-European Union inward investment and will support growth and the global promotion of the indigenous supply chain within Cornwall's marine renewables sector.

Amanda joins Invest in Cornwall from A&P Falmouth, where for the past two and a half years she was responsible for developing the business within their marine renewables sector. Amanda has a first class honours degree in Renewable Energy and is currently studying for an MPhil Renewable Energy Degree.

Commenting, Lucy Hunt, Manager of Invest in Cornwall, said: "We are delighted to welcome Amanda to our team. Her passion for marine renewable energy and green issues will be a real asset and enable us to broaden our business development capabilities.

"Cornwall is already a leading centre for marine renewable energy, a sector which is worth more than £400 million a year and we are sure Amanda will help us increase our offerings even further."

Amanda Pound said: "I am thrilled to be joining such a dynamic team. Having lived in Cornwall for six years, I look forward to being able to contribute to the success of Cornwall as a key business destination for marine renewable businesses. The region has the perfect combination of geographic and environmental conditions, with world leading market expertise available, making it an ideal location for inward investment."
